In the 1960s Buckminster Fuller laid down a ‘World Game’ challenge for architects, designers, researchers and educators. The challenge was to:

‘Make the world work for 100% of humanity in the shortest possible time, through spontaneous cooperation, without ecological offense or the disadvantage of anyone.’


Meeting this challenge requires a design science revolution to tackle the problems of the world, which today are largely urban problems.
I believe this is the challenge we still all face. It requires open minds and deep partnerships to begin to address it – collaboration is the only way.
